Here’s Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Weekly Poetry Challenge #277. This week’s theme is Taste the Rainbow!
after the sweet rain
rainbows contour the landscape
magic-infused air
sunbeams warm my jaded soul
I breathe in nature’s healing

The smell after a rain is lovely. Wonderful Tanka, Denise!
Nothing like the day after a good rain! Thanks, Pricilla 🙂
I can almost smell the rain, Denise.
It was so nice, and a break from fire danger. Soothing.
I’ll bet.
Beautiful. I love the term sweet rain.
xo
Thank you, Sandra. Any rain is sweet to get here 🙂
We need more sweet rain, Denise! Beautiful poem. 😊
Thank you, Miriam 🙂 Yes, we need much, much more.
We do, Denise! 🙂 2022 is California’s driest year on record so far. We’re in trouble. Like many states, the weather turns upside down. 🙁
It is scary, Miriam. They say some areas are sinking a foot because water table levels have dropped. All we can hope for is a mild summer. Stay safe!
Love it when I can feel a poem! Just experiencing the calm here. Fine job.
That makes me happy to hear, Annette 🙂 I love the same thing.
Beautiful, Denise. xo
Thanks, Eden xo
“I breathe in nature’s healing”–love that.
Thank you, Jacqui. It makes me take a deep breath everytime I read it.
I love the loamy, fresh scent of the earth after a rain. Your poem depicts the feeling perfectly- lovely!
Nothing like that smell, Jacquie:) Thank you!
Fantastic, Denise! Absolutely beautiful and so evocative 💕🙂
Thank you, Harmony 🙂 I appreciate every sweet drop!
I love both the sound of falling rain and the sweet, cleansing smell after. Lovely poem, Denise.
I love both too, Staci. I think I appreciate all the more with our lack of it.
Beautiful, peaceful, healing. Loved it.
Thank you, Karen. There is something healing about rain.
Beautiful words, Denise. I do love rain and the peacefulness it often brings with it.
Thank you, Mar 🙂 It has a cozy and cleansing feel to it. Xo
That smell of rain! Denise, this is a magical poem. I love the healing in nature, part. Excellent! <3
Thank you, Colleen 🙂 That smell reminds me of the world being cleansed and give a new chance.
Yes, that’s such a great observation. I love the sky the day after a rain. It’s so fresh! <3
This is lovely and so refreshing, Denise. We are still waiting for the rains- in fact, that’s what my tanka is about 🙂
I hope you get some rain. I will be heading over soon to check out your poem too 🙂 I hope some rain makes it your way. We will take any we can get.
Your poem brings it alive, Denise! Fantastic!
Thanks, Jan 🙂 My hope is that it flows from the poem to the skies.
A beautiful poem, Denise
Beautiful lines
How beautiful, Denise. I can breathe it in. 🙂
So so beautiful, Denise. I felt the lovely damp richness and could breathe again. 💗
We get quite a bit of rain as you can imagine Denise but you are right afterwards, particularly in the spring the scent is magic in the air. Lovely response to the prompt. xx
