To celebrate the release of “Just Her Poetry” here’s my portion of the tour!
Finn Facts:
- As a child, I loved reading “The Wonderful Worlds of Walt Disney” at my great-grandma’s house. My three favorite stories were: Cinderella, Sleeping Beauty, and Dumbo. These books reside with me, now.
- I estimate there to be over 300 books in my house. I plan to count them…someday.

YOUR WORDS
You feel so powerful and in control.
A keyboard.
Your words.
No consequences.
You don’t see the pain.
Cruel talk.
Shoulders slumping.
Souls crushed.
You’re educating that person.
Never seen.
Haven’t met.
Tears flowing.
You are only spreading your truth.
Its reality.
Their pain.
No dilemma.
They took it wrong and are too sensitive.
Toughen up.
Buckle down.
Who cares.
Wait, you were only trying to be funny?
No laughter.
No smiles.
Only frowns.
What if someone said that to you?
Suffer hurt.
Experience pain.
Feel low.
It’s not effective, it’s cruel.
Keep writing.
Attack more.
Be alone.
It’s your choice to spread negativity over caring.
Give support.
Show love.
Be happy.

I am a lover of books too which I inherited from my mother. I don’t have the space for that many now but did amass quite a collection in my lifetime. Congrats D.L.

I loved the contrast in Darkness and Light. Beautiful, Denise. Life is too short for negativity. Like you, I love books. Having moved across country a couple of times though, my shelves are not as packed as before. Big hugs 🙂

We have needed to relocate several times in the last few years and my daughter and I refuse to leave behind our books. The sofa may not fit into the movers van … but the books make it every time. lol. The poem you shared was powerful, Denise. Congrats again on the new release.❤️️

Sorry I am behind on your fabulous tour, Denise. I’ve been out of pocket and will be playing catch-up for a few days. 🙂 300 books, but who is counting, right? 🙂 I Love it. Fairy Tales were my favorite as a child too. I checked the Grimm’s book of Fairy Tales out of the school library so many times, they had to create a new card for it. 🙂 Love the poem! Very expressive!

A very strong poem, Denise!
I remember watching the Wonderful World of Disney as a kid. It came on Sunday evening at 7:00 PM and I used to get frustrated when football ran overtime, cutting into it. I don’t remember reading any of the books, but I do love the stories you mentioned.

Thank you Mae:) I loved the Sunday night Disney, too. I don’t remember football running into it, but I do remember how excited I would get if it was animated over real humans:) One of these days I’m going to count them all just to see how close my guess is!
Words can be merciless and sharper than knife. I love your poem, Denise. When I drove from Seattle to LA in 1980 with one carload of stuff, I had nine boxes of books. I also collected and stored away boxes of children’s books. It would be interesting when you do count your books!
They can Miriam:) I think its more common now that people can hide behind a keyboard and be cruel. i love that your nine boxes of books came with you to LA. I’m not ready to donate my children’s books yet. I have given some to my grand kids, but mostly they stay here and wait for a visit. I think it will be interesting when I finally do the count to see how close I was to my estimate.
I know, Denise, bout the children’s books. I’ll keep them and wait for my granddaughter’s visit so she can read the books here! I think your estimated number of books are as accurate as it can be!
I had to sell or give away all but about six of my books when we downsized into a smaller house. Books have a special place in my heart…they are my friends. My grandmother taught me love and appreciation of books. I try to keep my grandchildren well supplied with books.

You made me think about how easy it is to start rage tweeting about politics on twitter. I’m not going to let myself be sucked into it anymore, or least try really, really hard.
I’ve decided not to comment on any of it this voting cycle:) Not that my opinions have changed I realized no ones opinions were going to change! Strange times we live in.
Thanks to your poem I took some time away from Twitter. After two days I feel more relaxed and less angry. I agree with you, I’m not going to change minds, all I can do is vote and work on the problems in my community. No one can fix these problems alone.
I’m happy to hear you are more relaxed. Yay! Im completely agree with you voting is so important. So true we can’t fix these problems alone and we need to start in our communties. Now I’m working on shutting the news off or at least sooner….it is so easy to get overwhelmed.
