Poetry from the back of a Harley #poetry #motorcycle #motorcyclepoetry #freeverse #IARTG #ASMSG #WritingCommunity

Although my birthday was a few weeks ago, I wanted to share a poem and some pictures from that day. My husband and I stayed local. We rode up Highway 20 right outside of Nevada City and made one stop by a favorite waterfall.

RIDE

We ride through the sierras

Open to the world.

Leaning with each turn…

Braking for obstacles…

Flying through the straightaways…

While the sun illuminates our way.

We cruise over our paved path

With a loud rumble announcing us.

It’s here I find my stillness…

Deep within, on the back of a Harley

Flying through the forest’s freedom

The day of my birth is celebrated.

In the last picture, I found a face in the debris. Can you find it?

Embrace your inner child by reading a good book or finding your peace in nature. D. L. Finn

    1. Thank you, Staci:) My sister in law always jokes my pictures capture faces in the strangest thing…lol. I’m hoping for a wonderful rest of year for everyone!

  1. So beautiful, Denise, and seeing the two of you together makes it extra special. ♥ I saw the face, how amazing.

  2. It looks like it was such a gorgeous day, Denise. Lovely poem, too.
Happy belated birthday. And yes, I spotted the face right away. Very cool!

  3. I love, love, love everything about this post! There is nothing more freeing than riding on the back of a Harley! You are a lucky girl and your hubby is a lucky guy! The photos are great and the poem says it all! When I saw the face in the debris, I immediately thought book cover! 🙂 Thank you for sharing!

    1. Thank you, Jan. I know we are kindered Harley spirits:) I am lucky and enjoy that freedom. I smile thinking I’m a grandma rider. That would make a good book cover, Jan, you are right! xo
