Here is this week’s Colleen’s 2020 Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge No. 195.
I learned a new term Ekphrastic. “This challenge explores Ekphrastic writing inspired by visual art (photographs). Lisa Thompson, from last month’s challenge, has provided the photo for this month’s challenge.”
My Tanka Poem is based on this picture.
MAGIC
She sits silently
Under the mushroom’s safe glow
The humans too close
They’re searching for her magic
A gift the fairy can’t share.
Very beautiful, Denise.
Thank you. Robbie 🙂 xo
A wonderful poem, Denise. And, yes, I did follow your link for ‘Ekphrastic’. I’ve never heard that word before, lols 🙂
Thanks, Harmony:) With poetry I’m always learning something new.
Sweet, tender, lovely.
Thank you Karen:) xo
Oooh, I like this! Whenever I see mushrooms, I think of faeries. Great tanka, Denise!
Thanks, Mae 🙂 I connect them to mushrooms too. Then I had to research to decide which spelling of fairies to use here. I orginally had the e in place of the i but went with full cute here…lol. Xo
I think the “e” is just ingrained in my head, LOL. I never even stop to think when I type that word. Probably because I have a trunk novel where faeries are key to the plot!
From what I understand, and just learned, is when you use the e they are more mischievous:)
Just beautiful, Denise! I love it!
Thanks Jan. 🙂 xo
Denise, your tanka poem is so lovely and magical. You captured the image within your words. <3
Thanks Colleen:) The photo really opened the door for some magic.
I agree! ❤️
I love the magic this mushroom is evoking. Beautiful poem, Denise. And great take on the prompt. 🙂
It sure did! Thanks, Diana, I enjoyed this one:)
What a lovely fairy and her tale, Denise. Good job for this beautiful story in a few lines.
Thanks, Miriam I had fun with this one. I can’t wait to get back to work on my chldren fairy stories.
My pleasure, Denise. It would be wonderful to write your children’s stories again. I’ve written many when taking a course more than ten years ago. I now revise them one at a time.
I think I see her! 🙂
Enjoyed this, Denise
Yay! Thanks, Jacquie:)
I love it!
That makes me happy xo
A lovely take on this Denise. 🙂
Thank you Marje 🙂 xo
