Here’s Colleen Chesbro Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge #221 Synonyms Only. The two words were chosen by Jude: Search & Lost.
I went with a Tanka this week 5/7/5/7/7.
The picture is 2020’s Christmas Star.
ALONE
The sun’s warmth vanished
Silence enters the forest
Nighttime cloaks reason
Guided only by the stars
I seek life’s veiled magic.
Lovely take on the prompt, Denise! 🙂
Thank you, Harmony:)
What an awesome photo, Denise. I loved the poem, especially these lines:
Guided only by the stars
I seek life’s veiled magic.
Just beautiful!
Thanks, Mae. I was excited to see that star, and happy you enjoyed the tanka;)
Beautiful, Denise — the photo, the phrases, the hope. 💗
Thank you, Gwen:) Seeing that event did inspire hope and awe. We definitely need to focus on the hope. Xo
Lovely, Denise.
Thank you, Staci 🙂
The final two lines says it all. For many eons, the stars have guided. Great photo and poem, Denise!
Thank you, Jan. Yes, they are still guiding if we only take the time to look. Xo
The photo and the poem are beautiful, Denise <3
Thank you, Jacquie:) xo
Denise, I love how you used your Christmas Star photo. What a lovely tanka poem. I too seek that veiled magic. It’s there if we look for it. <3
Thanks, Colleen. I was so glad I got to witness that star. It is there, but I often forget to focus on it. xo
What a great photo. ❤️
Did you get to see the Christmas star last year, Denise? It’s cloudy here, so we just watched the YouTube. It was exciting and interesting and it aligned so much with the history, especially why it was called the Christmas star!
Your poem is so beautiful and the Christmas star was truly magical!
Yes, we did get to see the star very clearly. Quite a sight and moment. Thank you Miriam:)
I’m glad you did, Denise! Well that’s won’t live long enough to see the next one. ☺️
Oh, marvelous, Denise! You have such a talent. Hugs.
Aw, thank you, Teagan xo Hugs back!
I love this.
Isn’t it about time for another book of poems? Wink. Wink.
Lol…I have about 200 pages right now to go through. I will have to figure out what to do with my symbolic stuff and free verse. xoxo Thanks:)
🙂
🙂
A lovely poem, I too like to seek magic! <3
Thanks, Marje:) I know if we seek we will find it!
Yes we will! <3
Very evocative, particularly the last line, “I seek life’s veiled magic.” That really provided the punch at the end to bring home the whole piece. : )
Thank you, Cathleen 🙂 It’s a quest I won’t give up on.
This is a wonderful tanka.
Thank you, Jude 🙂
My pleasure.
