Here’s Colleen Chesebro’s Weekly Tanka Tuesday Poetry Challenge. This week is a theme based on, Travel and Journey.
I decided to use a Tanka format 5/7/5/7/7 and a picture from last week’s hike for inspiration.
NATURE’S REMINDER
The moment floats by
safely behind a wood fence
when nature beckons
gently evoking wisdom
recognizing souls can fly.
What an awesome poem, Denise! It’s perfect for the photo, and I especially love the last line!
Thank you, Mae. That view seemed like a poem when I saw it.
Denise, you were inspired — and as always, inspiring. Hugs on the wing.
Thank you, Teagan:) It’s hard not be be inspired around all of nature’s beauty! Hugs on the wing right back to you!
Beautiful, Denise. I love this Tanka. I traveled with each word. 💗
Thank you, Gwen:) I’m glad the traveling came through.
Yes yes. The moment one realizes that souls CAN fly, that’s the moment the wings show you how to. Loved it dearly. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you, Selma:) Those wings can take us anywhere!
Great take on the prompt, Denise 🙂
Thanks, Harmony 🙂
Love the ending. What a beautiful sentiment. Great job, Denise.
Thanks, Staci. I’m always searching for those wings.
Very nice, Denise!
Thank you, John 🙂
Indeed a journey, and sometimes we need protection to not jump and let our soul be free!
Yes, always need that protection and our souls to be free 🙂
Lovely thoughts Denise. Nature always inspires!
Thank you, Balroop:) Yes nature is so inspiring !
Ohhh, I LOVE your Tanka. You show us how Nature can show us souls flying…. <3
Thank you, Pam 🙂 Nature has a way of showing us all the possibilities! Xo

See you at the blog tomorrow:) xoxoxo
It was a perfect moment sitting on the bench reflecting! Thanks for sharing the fairies! Xoxo

A beautiful Tanka, Denise. I love this and it fits the image perfectly!
Thank you, Jan 🙂 I’m so glad you like it! Xo
Lovely image. We can fly in our imaginations – that is true!
Thank you, Jules:) Yes, our imagination can take us anywhere!
Beautiful, Denise! I love it. I’m telling everyone to remember that there is no punctuation or capitalization at the beginning of each line in syllabic poetry. Especially Japanese poetry. <3
Thanks, Colleen:) That’s going to be a hard habit to break! I saw that again in your book, which I’m enjoying.
Thank you! With the journal hitting the ground running, I wanted to make sure that everyone takes notice of the rules. <3
That flowed quite naturally. 🙂
Yay! Thank you, Mark 🙂
So beautiful, Denise. I love that sense of our soul’s expanding. Lovely
Thank you, Diana:) May our souls be ever expanding. Xo
