Hi! Here is Colleen Chesebro’s 24 Seasons Syllabic Poetry Challenge, No. 3.
These are the season kigo words I chose for this week: pumpkin & cold dew. I did a tanka 5/7/5/7/7.
world record pumpkin
nestled in dawn’s salty cold dew
massive orange squash
awaits her adoring fans
harvest festival begins
NOTE:
The next From Finn’s Forest talks about special pumpkins 🙂
I love this haiku, Denise. Very colorful! I love orange. 🎃
Thanks, Colleen 🙂 I’m hoping to make the drive to attend this but if not I’m enjoying all the wonderful falls colors here. xo
It sounds like a ton of fun!!
Adoring fans is right! I am still trying to talk my family into setting up a pumpkin patch!
Yes, I am one of those fans. That would be SO much fun to have a pumpkin patch.
We had tons of pumpkins in our garden this year. Hurray!!
Super haiku, Denise. It just sounds like the season.
Thank you, John 🙂
There wouldn’t be a harvest festival without a giant pumpkin, Denise. I could feel the excitement. Wonderful poem for the Cold Dew season. <3
It sure couldn’t, Diana 🙂 I do love Harvest Festivals and miss the one we used to go to years ago.
It’s been a few years for me too. I miss it too.
I love ‘nestled in dawn’s salty cold dew’. Woot. Woot.

Thank you, Sandra. It’s a place that has a ton of good memories.
Pumpkin patches are so iconic late autumn. Nothing is more fun that going to a hay maze and a pumpkin patch with kids.
They sure are a lot of fun. I have wonderful memories of them.
Me, too. I’m sure we are not alone in our love for pumpkin patches. 🙂
They are so much fun, especially with kids. Never had a bad time at one, Marsha!
For sure! 🙂
Coincidentally, we saw a news story this morning of a pumpkin raft race. (These water craft were made from giant pumpkins, needless to say.)
Wow, Liz. That must be something to see!
Some of them were painted as the Yellow Brick Road for the Wizard of Oz theme. All I could think of was that the inside must be slimy to sit in.
Very true, it would be slimy to sit inside
Ick . . .
‘nestled in dawn’s salty cold dew’ – such a beautiful line, Denise. Autumn wouldn’t be Autumn without pimpkins.
Thank you, Eugi! No, it certainly wouldn’t be the same without pumpkins 🙂
You’re welcome.
Fantastic, Denise! The line “nestled in dawn’s salty cold dew” conjures both tranquility and beauty. Happy Autumn!
Thank you, Mae 🙂 So many good memories in that line and place. xo Happy Autumn.
Fun poem, Denise! Have you seen some of those giant pumpkins?!
Such an imaginative haiku, Denise, that brings visions of fall to my mind.
Thank you, Timothy! It’s my favorite time of year.
I love autumn and pumpkins and all Halloween vibes, Denise! Lovely 😍
Thanks, Marje 🙂 Happy Autumn!
And to you too Denise. x
You captured one of the many wonderful things about the autumn season: pumpkins! Love to walk through the patch and pick out a few, love to carve them, and my favorite is to bake and eat the pies! Thank you for sharing your haiku.
Thank you, Karen 🙂 Yes, nothing like a walk through a pumpkin patch and picking a pumpkin. I love pumpkin pie, bread, and the seeds.
I love this poem, Denise. We don’t have these round orange pumpkins here.
Thanks, Robbie 🙂 It seems to be different harvests as what grows there fun to hear the differences.
So delightful! Pumpkins are real fun! Love your tanka.
Thank you, Balroop:) They certainly are l!
I love the idea of a vegetable being the star of a celebration. Neat pictures also.
Thank you 🙂 It is fun to honor what gives us so much.
Denise ~ this one has left me with a big smile on my face 😀
