Here is Colleen Chesebro’s 24 Seasons Syllabic Poetry Challenge #7. I used In the Sky words from the season list for my tanka poem 5/7/5/7/7: autumn wind and ice or icy.

icy autumn wind
ahead of winter’s visit
stripes the tree’s glow
carelessly tosses those leaves
where gleeful children frolic
Denise, this is so atmospheric! I can hear the kids playing under the trees in the leaves. 🍂
Thanks, Colleen 🙂 I don’t mind joining them for that!
Beautiful, Denise. My grandkids love to play in the piles of leaves.
Thanks, Timothy 🙂 Mine too, sometimes it is fun to join in!
Piles of leaves are the best. Well done Denise
They really are the best, John! Thank you 🙂
Can feel this as well as see it! 🙂
Thanks, Annette. It’s such a fun time of the year xo
I enjoyed your poem, Denise. Beautiful foliage picture, too!
Thanks, Vera ! I out after the rains stopped today and enjoying how bright and colorful it is right now.
A lovely poem and photo, Denise! My grandkids just jumped into the piles last weekend.
Thanks, Miriam. It is hard to resist a pile of leaves 🙂
You’re right, Denise. After that they had to help put the leaves in the bins and they did. 😃
I love seeing the leaves dancing in the wind- so pretty! Your poem is beautiful, Denise <3
I love that too, Jacquie 🙂 Nothing like a blustery day. Thank you. Xo
This is lovely, Denise. Greg used to love jumping into leaves.
Thanks, Robbie. There is nothing more fun than jumping into the pile of leaves! Xo
beautiful, Denise 🤍🙏
Thank you, Destiny 🙂
This is truly lovely Denise and in the true spirit of late autumn early winter , nature’s last hurrah before the bleakness of winter. 💜
Thank you, Willow. It is a beautiful hurrah to enjoy 🙂
Yes indeed 💜💜
Children celebrate every season. I like that image.
They certainly know how to be present in each moment, Kerfe 🙂
There’s nothing like playing in a pile of leaves. The photo, and poem, are beautiful.
I completely agree, Joan:) I feel joy kicking the leaves around too. Thank you!
“carelessly tosses those leaves”–love that mental image
Thank you, Jacqui. I love watching the leaves float around on their way to the ground. Xo
Beautiful, Denise. This brings back so many memories of playing in the leaves. What a wonderful poem. <3
Thanks, Diana 🙂 There is so much joy in fall leaves. Even now I like to kick them around.
🙂
Such a vivid description, Denise!
Thank you, Jan 🙂 xo
Denise,
It is a good thing. Somebody is gleeful about the icy wind! Excellent poem!
I love the effect of the icy wind on the beautiful fall colors. Thank you, Luanne 🙂
This really is lovely, Denise. I miss that kind of autumn. Well done. Hugs.
Thank you, Teagan 🙂 I feel lucky to be able to enjoy the season here, I didn’t grow up with it. Hugs xo
Love the imagery. I tried jumping in a leaf pile as an adult: it’s amazing how much a lot more size changes the feeling entirely. Painful gravity!
Thank you, Boz 🙂 We’d need a much better pile to cushion that landing! I like kicking the leaves as I walk now, less painful.
Haha yes that is fun!
I think adults can frolic too… on an outside walk (usually we walk the gym track) – I shuffled through some crispy leaves. 🙂
Adults can definitely frolic, too. I shuffel through those same leaves 🙂
🍂🍁🍂🍁🍂
I love it. Very evocative.

Thanks, Sandra xo
What a lovely poem, Denise. I love the vivid imagery and remember my children playing in the leaves when they were little. 🧡
Thank you, Lauren:) A pilr of leaves does carry wonder memories doesn’t it?
Yes it does. 🙂 Have a great weekend, Denise. ❤️
Lovely imagery!
Love the imagery of the leaves, wind, and chilly air. Your gift for poetry is very evident.
Awe, thank you, Karen xo
Nevada City is such a beautiful place. Our son and his wife would love to live there. The tree and your poet-tree are both colorful and beautiful.
I love where you took this poem, Denise… I was not expecting this last line, and it made me smile!
<3

Precisely what’s going on outside here, at this very moment. Nice work, Denise.
I enjoyed your poem….Rall
