It was a beautiful weekend here, so we took advantage of this summer preview. Out on the Magical Trail, there were many trees down, especially the cedars. We have cleared a couple of paths to walk, but we have more to go. Along with the trees, part of our main deck took a beating and is in the process of being repaired.
But our weekend wasn’t all work; we took a break and walked by the river. The flowers are starting to bloom, but maybe a week or two from full bloom. The butterflies were in abundance. They weren’t really cooperative when I tried to take their pictures. They’d fly right off. Luckily, I brought my long-range camera lens and was able to still capture some butterflies in the distance and a couple with my cell phone, too.
Still warm here, but not as hot as last week. No rain this week again, but maybe next. I’ll take April showers bring May flowers.
Next week, I’ll be talking about my strange adventures looking for some freelance work on a popular job website. Also, going to share my collection of heart-shaped rocks.
Here are some pictures from the Magical Trail and our river walk.

Embrace your inner child by smelling the flowers and reading a good book! D. L. Finn (Denise)

Sounds like a lovely weekend with a mix of work and fun. I envy you your magical forest. The butterfly is precious. Thanks!
It was a good blend, Darlene. The butterflies were the best part of it. Xo
Thanks for sharing your walk with us, Denise!
Happy to share it, it was much needed, Priscilla. Xo
Love your forest, Denise – I could spend some time there and probably find a good reading spot.
Thank you, Teri 🙂 it has its challenges but I still love it. Nature does offer many reading spots!
Signs of spring everywhere. One of my brothers is the vice president of the North American Butterfly Association. I’ve been with him on field trips when he’s trying to photograph them.
Yes, spring has definitely arrived, Pete 🙂 That must have been fun to go along on that field trip and see all the butterflies. Almost everything I pointed my camera in their direction they flew off…lol
It’s all about the plants and flowers. Once they find something they like, they’ll stay put.
That’s very true!
Sounds like a great week. Curious about the freelance efforts.
It was a good week, Craig thanks.
It sure looks like a great walk on a lovely trail to me, Denise. Walking across a covered bridge would be cool.
Thanks, I love our Magical trail. Its the longest covered bridge in the world so believe. They just redid it.
The longest in the world? Wow! 😲
To think they were going to remove it and damage up the area at one point. Glad it got fixed
😊
Thanks for the wonderful tour with gifts of nature and angels too, Denise❣️
Happy to share nature’s beauty, Cindy 🙂 Never know what you are going to find. Xo
Absolutely 💯❣️
Sounds like a lovely way to spend a day!
It was perfect, Liz:)
😊
Sounds like a wonderful walk, Denise, and great pics from it. I love the butterfuly, and I’ve never actually seen poison oak before. The site wouldn’t accept either my Like or my comments, so I’m adding them here. Thanks for sharing. 🙂
It is a favorite place to walk. Laura 🙂 Most of those butterflies would fly off when I went to take a picture…lol. There was so much poison oak and if I touch it I get it, so I’m careful. Sorry you had issues with the site, it tends to act up. Xo
No problem, Denise. I get it a lot with other sites, and I think it’s WordPress at the bottom of it. Maddening, but at least I can add likes and comments back here. Have a good week and avoid that poison oak. 🙂
I see the Angel!……Or fairy:)
xo
Yes, could be either with those wings.
Hi Denise, it’s been a long, hard winter. I’m sure you delighted to see sun and flowers.
I always love to see spring flowers, it always inspires me, Robbie xo
Your magical forest sounds delightful minus the poison ivy. I hope none of it blew in the wind and attached itself to you! I love heart-shaped rocks. Enjoy the magic of the heart. Where is the covered bridge?
We luckily don’t have poison oak on our trail, but plenty at river. Its South Yuba Park. The buttermilk trail is an easy and amazing walk and the bridge is there. It’s outside of Penn Valley. I pay attention I dont touch any of the oily poison oak leaves! The rash is miserable. I am always on the lookout for heart shaped rocks. Xo
That is romantic – the hearts, not the poison ivy. I’m pretty leery of touching anything on the path. We have giant dandelions, and I’ve thought about cutting them and following Marianne’s recipe.
Dear Denise, thank you for this lovely moment. I felt all the sounds and scents inside the covered bridge. Imagining the butterflies is wondrous. Hugs.
I’m happy you enjoyed it, Teagan 🙂 I never tire walking across the longest covered bridge. The best part is peeking out the windows. There is something peaceful watching the butterflies. Hugs right back to you xo
I love your magical forest and how you captured that angel in the rock, the flowers, the passages. It feels good to get a little work in before play! Love this time of year. Hugs, C
Thank you, Cheryl:) Nice to get out in nature and get grounded. So many little gifts all around us. Have to blend that work and play, keeps that smile. Isn’t spring the best? Hugs back xo
Okay, you had me at the heart shaped rock! xo
There is something special about them, isn’t there? Xo
Looks like you had a good deal of damage, but the hike looked like fun and you got some beautiful photos. I hope things settle down and you fall into a normal weather pattern. Good luck with the clean up.
