Please welcome D. Wallace Peach here today to celebrate the release of her new book, Liars and Thieves! I picked up my copy and can’t wait to read it 🙂
Q & A
On and off, Talin spends a decade as Slink, a marten. What’s a marten?
Talin is a changeling with the ability to assume the shapes of other creatures. As a spy, it’s a handy skill. A favorite shape is that of a marten. They’re pretty cute.
The Nilgiri marten is about the size and weight of a typical cat.
It’s diurnal, awake during the day, and mainly lives in trees, though it will descend to the ground. It preys on birds, small mammals, and insects. This explains why, while in marten form, Talin occasionally has the urge to eat mice and bugs though he prefers fruits and seeds.
Martens tend to skitter and they make little screechy noises. You’ll see a Talin’s marten in action early in the book. Here’s what he looks like:

Blurb:
Behind the Veil, the hordes gather, eager to savage the world. But Kalann il Drakk, First of Chaos, is untroubled by the shimmering wall that holds his beasts at bay. For if he cannot cleanse the land of life, the races will do it for him. All he needs is a spark to light the fire.
Three unlikely allies stand in his way.
A misfit elf plagued by failure—
When Elanalue Windthorn abandons her soldiers to hunt a goblin, she strays into forbidden territory.
A changeling who betrays his home—
Talin Raska is a talented liar, thief, and spy. He makes a fatal mistake—he falls for his mark.
A halfbreed goblin with deadly secrets—
Naj’ar is a loner with a talent he doesn’t understand and cannot control, one that threatens all he holds dear.
When the spark of Chaos ignites, miners go missing. But they won’t be the last to vanish. As the cycles of blame whirl through the Borderland, old animosities flare, accusations break bonds, and war looms.
Three outcasts, thrust into an alliance by fate, by oaths, and the churning gears of calamity, must learn the truth. For they hold the future of their world in their hands.

Thank you!!!
When I first read Slink was a marten, I had to google it because I wasn’t quite sure what that was. So glad I did…now I want one!! Though, maybe not one as light-fingered as Slink 😉
Best wishes with the launch and tour, D…
I’m with you, I want one too…or at least have one living in our forest:) I can’t wait to read this and see what role this cute creature plays in it!
He’s naughty, Denise. Better to have him in the forest. Lol.
I’d love it!
I could see a cute marten frollicking around in your lovely gardens!!
Isn’t he adorable? I want one too. Lol. I watched lots of marten videos on youtube as part of my research. Thanks for the visit, Jess. So nice of you to stop by and comment. Have a lovely day.

Many thanks for hosting, Denise.
They are adorable, Staci:) I kind of wish I had one living in our forest. I’m happy to host and glad you dropped by!
Thanks for the visit and kind comment, Staci. Slink was the best part about having changelings in the story. All the deviousness! Lol. I hope you get a kick out of him. Have a great day and Happy Reading!
OMG, that Marten is so cute! I’m reading Liars and Thieves just now and enjoying it. Best of luck with the launch, Diana 🙂

I look forward to reading this too Mae. It helps the marten is so darn cute )
Thanks for the visit and comment, Mae. I’m so pleased to be over at Denise’s with a little about Slink. He’s a cutie and rather devious. Have an awesome day. 🙂
🙂
Marvelous, Denise. Thanks for sharing. I wasn’t familiar with martens, and now I’m in love. I’m really enjoying this book from Diana. Hugs to you both.
Oops. I think I hit something and my comment disappeared. Sorry if this is a repeat. Lol. Well, if so, you get two thank you’s, Teagan. I’m so honored that you stopped by Denise’s today. And I couldn’t be happier with the lovely enthusiasm. Have a wonderful day, my friend. <3 Hugs!
Thanks, Teagan! I didn’t know what a marten was either, but they “look” huggable. Hugs back to you:)
They do look cute–Martens–but they have a wild side. I loved the part this little guy played in Diana’s book.
Thanks for the visit, Jacqui. They do have a wild side. I’m so glad you enjoyed Slink in the book. He was really fun to write. 🙂 Have a great day, my friend, and thanks for the visit!
That intrigues me Jacqui! Can’t wait to get reading;)
I clicked on the word while reading the book to find more about this word… ‘Marten’ is one naughty creature in Liars and Thieves that adds some charm to Talin’s character. I am almost through Diana’s book. 🙂 Thanks for the lovely support Denise.
Already, Balroop? Thank you so much. I’m just tickled that you started it so quickly. Yay. And I’m glad Slink adds some charm to Talin’s character. Alue certainly has a hard time staying mad at him when in marten form. Have a lovely day and thanks so much for stopping by Denise’s blog. <3
Just 10% is left and I am shocked at the treatment poor Alue has got! I liked her despite her weaknesses.
I’m glad you like her, Balroop. The poor thing tries so hard! She has spunk though… no spoilers. 🙂
I’m always happy to support, Balroop, and extra glad when you stop by:) I’m so curious now as to what role this cute guy plays in Diana’s new book!
Oh my goodness, Talin is so cute and handsome. He’d never be suspected as a spy. Changing shapes to other creatures is cunning. Congratulations to Diana’s new book. Thank you for hosting, Denise.
Thanks so much for another visit, Miriam! You’re such a lovely support and I appreciate your enthusiasm. Talin is a very effective spy… until he gets caught. Lol. Have a lovely day, my friend. Hugs <3
I’m excited to host, Miriam and happy you stopped by! Yes, that is a face that would never be suspected of spying:)
Happy to be your usual gust, Denise. This community is so encouraging!
I completely agree so much encouragement, Miriam xo
I’ve been enjoying it, Denise!💖
Thanks so much for sharing your blog with me today, Denise. What a treat, and I’m so grateful. And you got one of the best Q&As. Slink is my comic relief in the rather grim story. Have a wonderful day. <3
I’m happy to have you here today, Diana 🙂 This question definitely has me intrigued and I can’t wait to learn more. I’m always a fan of the comic relief. Thank you, I hope have a wondeful day too!Xo
Congratulations to Diana, Denise. Thanks for hosting.
Thanks again, John. Twice in one day! I appreciate it that you took the time to visit and comment. 🙂 Have a great one!
😊
Happy to host and so glad you dropped by:)
Awww. I want a marten! Adorable little creature. Talin is a fascinating character. Congrats to Diana on her new release! Thanks for hosting, Denise. <3 xo
I know Vashti I want one too! I can’t wait to start reading this.
Always happy to host and excited you were able to drop by xo
It’s always a pleasure, Denise.
Thanks so much for the visit, Vashti. Aren’t martens cute? As soon as I saw it, I knew that was the shape my character would take. 🙂 It would be fun to live somewhere where they climbed in the trees at the edge of our yards. 🙂 Have an awesome day and Happy Writing!
You’re welcome, Diana. I would love to live in a place like that. <3 You have a fabulous rest of the week, and happy writing to you too! 🙂
So Talin changes his name as well as shapes in the book? Good way to hide as a spy, I guess 🙂 These teasers are talking me into moving this book up my reading list! lol
It’s next on my list, Jacquie:) It would be a great way to hide as a spy.
Thanks, Jacquie. My elf character, Alue, named the marten Slink when she adopted him as a kit. Little did she know… she was inviting a spy into her life. She loves Slink, Talin not so much. Lol. The marten adds a little humor to the story that gets progressively darker as the books continue. Thanks so much for the visit and the sweet comment. I’m glad the teasers are working! Lol. Have a great day.
Aww that Talin’s marten is so cute! Lovely to see Diana here with her new release. Looking forward to featuring her soon on my blog too. 🙂
Aren’t martens cute, Marje? As soon as I saw the picture, I knew that was the shape Talin would taken when spying on Alue, my elfin character. And I’m looking forward to a busy day on your blog! Thanks so much for visiting here at Denise’s and taking the time to read and comment. Have a marvelous day. <3
Ah yes indeed. Awesome Wishing you and Denise a wonderful day too. <3
I enjoyed having Diana here:) Yes that marten is adorable! This is a great tour, Marje, see you at your day.
Yes Diana is a treasure. See you at mine soon. Best, Marje 🙂
Thanks for asking the question about martens! And thanks for the photo. They are rather cute. 😀
I was glad to learn about them and I agree they are rather cute! Thanks for stopping by 🙂
Nice to meet you. 🙂
Nice to meet you too.
😀
Aren’t they adorable. As soon as I saw it, I knew it would be the shape Talin would use to invade Alue’s life. Lol. I wouldn’t be able to resist. Thanks for the visit, my friend. <3 Hugs.
-giggles- me neither, Diana. I am soooo curious to see what Tallin does next. 😉
Another lovely post about Diana’s new book. Thanks for sharing, Denise.
I’m sure enjoying Diana’s blog tour, Robbie:)
Thanks again for generously hosting, Denise. I loved my visits over here. 🙂
Thanks so much for another visit, Robbie! I’m glad you got a glimpse of my little marten character. 🙂 I hope your day is a peaceful one. Happy Writing!
I learn something new in everyone of Diana’s book tours, and this one is no different. I’m not sure I’d want a Marten for a pet, unless I needed to spy on my enemies, of course. 🙂 This book is burning up my Kindle, waiting to be read…. So fun to see Ms. Peach over here with you, Denise. Bravo!
Yes, she left something new at each blog stop, Pamela:) I really enjoyed this book and I’m eagerly awaiting the next one.
This is another post that somehow wound up in my SPAM folder. I enjoyed each of Diana’s tour stops and the different excerpts. I look forward to reading this book!
It was a fun tour. I just finished this book and loved it. I think I’ll check my spam too…just in case. Hugs.
