#TANKA TUESDAY WEEKLY #POETRY CHALLENGE NO. 238, #SYNONYMSONLY @ColleenChesebro #cinquain #butterflycinquain #poem #achase

Here is Colleen Chesebro’s Tanka Tuesday Weekly Poetry Challenge #238, Synonyms Only. The two words to work from were: Sanctuary & Follow.

I first came up with the line “collapsing onto the altar.” So, I decided this fit nicely into a Butterfly Cinquain 2/4/6/8/2/8/6/4/2. The picture was chosen for the dark mood.

I ran

bare feet bleeding

beaded white dress ragged

collapsing onto the altar

Their cruel chase would continue

No longer my wedding

everyone dead

I ran

    1. Thanks, Mae 🙂 I had a hard time finding a photo for this. Couldn’t find a bride running away into the night…lol.

    1. It would be great in a horror story. A good prequel of what happened just before… lol. Thanks, Colleen! xo

    1. Thank you, Annika 🙂 I think my writing is heading into a early Halloween. This one did leave some question unanswered.

  1. Poor Friday the 13th – one of my favorite good luck days!! 😉
I did think straight to autumn and Halloween though.
While not a wedding in the spy spoof (or one of them) ‘All The Kings Men’ there is such a scene where everyone in the church goes crazy and – well the outcome wasn’t ‘lively’.

    1. Friday the 13th is a lucky day for me, even when it appears not to be 🙂 My thoughts do turn to fall/Halloween now.
I don’t think I’ve seen “All the Kings Men.” I can image if everyone went crazy it wouldn’t have a lively outcome. Thanks, Jules 🙂

    1. I’m sorry about the bad old days, Teagan but glad you are in the good new ones now. Sending hugs right back. xo
