Last week I walked on the magical trail with Sara, our dog. I sat on the bench and composed poetry while taking in the beauty. This dragonfly landed and kept me company while I wrote. Here’s one of those poems.
INTERLUDE
My mind is adrift in a fog of apathy
So, I let it wander, like a Sunday drive.
As I peer deeply into the thickened air
My forward-path is frozen…
When the heaviness of the moment obscures it.
I pull over to wait it out
Restless…
I get out of my vehicle and find lights
They are dim in the gloom…
But, I’m grateful as my feet meet a solid path
There’s a gazebo ahead with a twinkling glow.
The haze dispels, and I flow in
A chair awaits that I thankfully sink into
I close my eyes and breathe. Just breathe
Pulling a blanket over the chill, I nestle into the joy
Sometimes when it isn’t possible to advance
I can find my way on a fringe trail.
Here I settle into the interlude
And immerse my essence into life’s magic.
Watch for a special edition blog this week.
Next Sunday, instead of my regular blog, I’ll be hosting my day of the#RRBC 2019 OCTOBER-WEEN BLOCK PARTY! Stop by and say hello:)
Embrace your inner essence! D. L. Finn
Lovely dear Denise…nature can be such a wonderful place to reawaken a writer’s instincts and passions. You, go, girl! ♥♥
Thanks Billy:) Nature does do that!
I enjoyed it, Denise.
Thanks, John.
Beautiful poem, Denise!
Thank you, Joan:)
Oh, Denise, this is such a beautiful poem. I not only could read it, but I could FEEL it! We all need those moments when we can find that gazebo, the chair and a warm blanket. Incredible expression!
Thanks, Jan:) Yes, we do all need these moments in that gazebo!
So lovely, Denise. I felt I was right there with you. Blessings!
Thank you, Gwen. Happy to have you along. Blessings back!
There is an air of joy in your words but something is ambiguous. I read it twice but couldn’t unravel those thoughts. Are you just floating in the moment?
Yes, I am just staying in that moment, Balroop. It’s my time to reflect before moving on.
You paint a beautiful picture with your chosen words, Denise. Thank you for sharing this.
Thanks, Beem. The forest always inspires me.
This poem is a treat for the senses! By that, I mean your words create very tangible and pleasant images. I was no longer just sitting on my chair in my “writer’s den.” Well done!
Thank you, Mark! I love when words can take us to that other place:)
That’s gorgeous, Eric. Not only a beautiful poem that took me for a walk, but a wonderful less too. Sometimes the answer lies in the lesser road or simply in sitting still and present. Loved it.
Ooops. Ha ha. DL, I thought I was on Eric’s blog, obviously. I’m such a dope. Well the comment applies to your poem. Sublime, my friend. I need some coffee. 😀
Lol….no problem Diana. I’m forever worrying about doing the same thing. Easy to do on a Monday morning. Glad you enjoyed the poem. Yes, sometimes we need to sit in the moment on that lesser road.
Arrgh. Thanks for being gracious. It was one of those fingers moving faster than the brain moments. 🙂 Beautiful poem.
Been there a lot…lol
A lovely poem, Denise. I hope you have your writing mojo back now.
Thank you Robbie. I’m finding it in poetry:)
At first, I sensed sadness in your poem, but then it was as though the beauty of nature brought you back. Beautiful, Denise- truly <3
Yes, nature can be so healing Jacquie:) Thank you.
Beautiful poem, Denise. I love its flow and imagery. It’s magical to be one with nature. <3 xo
Thank you. Vashti:) Nature is so healing we definitely need more of it in our lives.
What a blissful interlude, Denise. We need that in life. 💖
Thanks, Miriam, we certainly do!
You’re welcome, Denise! I’m off to the airport!
Safe travels!
Thank you!
A lovely poem, Denise. As always, so beautifully vivid, like a painted picture to fill the senses.
Thank you, Mae. I’m glad you can see that paint!
Love this, Denise! And how wonderful a dragonfly hung out to keep you company 😀
Thanks, Julie. It was pretty cool to have my insect friend along.
Beautiful, Denise.
